Orthopedic Rehabilitation

Our Orthopedic Rehabilitation Program provides an integrative and structured rehabilitation program for persons recovering from orthopedic illnesses and injuries, such as major multiple orthopedic trauma, hip fracture surgery, joint replacements and arthritis, including osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, polymyositis and lupus.

A highly skilled group of professionals plans each patient’s care under the direction of your physician or surgeon. For those undergoing elective joint replacement surgery, pre-operative assessments identify and address modifications to the home environment, as well as post-operative assistive equipment needs.

Therapies and activities are specifically designed to improve patients’ functional skills, strength, enduranceĀ  and mobility.

What is an Orthopedic Injury?

An orthopedic injury affects our body’s musculoskeletal system, which includes bones, joints, muscles, ligaments, tendons and nerves.Without this complicated network, we wouldn’t be able to move, work, or be active. OrthopedicĀ  injuries range from infantsĀ  with clubfeet, to athletes who require arthroscopic surgery, to people who need hip and knee replacements.

Recovering from an orthopedic injury involves not only your physician, but a team of medical professionals able to tailor a rehabilitation program based on your living environment, the extent of your injury and any other special needs.

Part of your rehabilitation program should include ways to help you avoid future injuries involving specific activities or job requirements.

Care is coordinated by our medical and administrative staff who help the patient and his/her family understand the recovery process and consider the options as the patient progresses from inpatient care to home health care, put patient rehabilitation and/or community services.
